Dear Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!  As we move into the fall season, I am excited about the many upcoming community events and hope you join us in celebrating our wonderful community together.
We are pleased to welcome the Chicago Cubs this Thursday, October 11th as we officially celebrate the completion of the Blaine Field.  Students are encouraged to wear Blaine or Cubs gear as part of the school-wide celebration.
All families are also invited to our first community event on the field this Friday, October 19th–this year’s annual Blaine Flix will be sponsored by the PTA, Kindergarten Fund and 8th grade students.  Games and snacks will be offered at 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by our feature film, Incredibles 2, at 7:00 p.m.
Friends of Blaine is also sponsoring our annual Walk-a-Thon next Thursday, October 18th. This year, we’re kicking the fitness and fun up a notch with a Run ‘N’ Fun event in partnership with Lakeshore Sports and Fitness.  Students will participate in Run and Fun activities to support a variety of health and wellness initiatives at our school.
Mark your calendars…Blaine Booster Club has partnered with the Chicago Fire to bring back the Bend It Like Blaine tradition. This year, they have added a chili cook-off competition to keep things fresh! Please join us on Saturday, October 20th at 1:00 for this family event in support our athletic programming.
Finally, Blaine’s Bilingual Advisory Council has been working hard to plan our annual Noche Hispana community event, scheduled for Thursday, October 25th at 5:30 p.m. We look forward to welcoming everyone for an evening of music, dancing and delicious food in honor of Hispanic Heritage month.
I am so grateful for the support of our many wonderful parent organizations and volunteers who contribute to our amazing community.  I feel very honored to share this important work with all of you, and thank you for all of your support.
Ms. Brito
