In her free time, Ms. Brito enjoys running, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

Co-Principal – Mr. Gary Norcross

Mr. Norcross thinks of himself as a life-long learner, and he brings decades of varied experiences to his position as Assistant Principal at Blaine. After graduating from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, Mr. Norcross joined the Air Force and lived in some exciting places like Las Vegas, Sicily, and Cairo. He was a business manager at Washington National Cathedral, worked for a film production company that won an Academy Award, and started a business unit for a Fortune 50 company.

But it’s education that always intrigued Mr. Norcross. Consequently, when he moved to Chicago, he became a member of the inaugural class of Chicago Teaching Fellows and began teaching in Chicago’s west side. Years later, Mr. Norcross received his Masters in Educational Leadership form National-Louis University.

In 2007, Mr. Norcross arrived at Walt Disney Magnet School, where he taught 1st and 2nd Grades before becoming Early Childhood Director and Assistant Principal. He gives well-earned credit to Disney for providing a community of diverse learners with a staff that is committed to instructional excellence and fun. At Blaine, Mr. Norcross enjoys forging relationships with students, parents and staff to ensure our students learn in an environment that values respect, rapport, and strong and engaging instruction.

In his spare time, Mr. Norcross enjoys travel, photography, and long walks by the Lake with his miniature Schnauzer, Robert. Mr. Norcross is also an active member of Church of the Atonement (Episcopal) in his Edgewater neighborhood.
