Meet Our Administrative Team

Principal – Ms. Angela Brito

Ms. Angela Brito considers herself and lifelong learner, and is honored to serve the Blaine community as a member of the administrative team.  She completed her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at the University of Wisconsin, and her master’s degree in Reading Education at Concordia University.  In 2012, Ms. Brito achieved National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist.  She completed her principal internship at Blaine, and earned an Education Specialist degree from National Louis in Administration and Supervision in 2014.

Ms. Brito has worked as an educator for the past seventeen years in Madison, New York, and Chicago.  She has served as a classroom teacher for primary and intermediate grades, as well as a Reading Specialist and Interventionist for middle school students.  Prior to coming to Blaine, Ms. Brito was the Academic Director at Bethune School of Excellence in Chicago.

In her free time, Ms. Brito enjoys running, baking, and reading.  She is the proud mother of two, and loves to spend time on the weekends with her husband and children.

Assistant Principal – Mr. Andrew Russell

Mr. Russell is both humbled and overjoyed to have recently joined the outstanding school and community of Blaine Elementary.  Before coming to Blaine, Mr. Russell worked as a middle school teacher for the United Neighborhood Organization and was a science coordinator at Walt Disney Magnet School.

Mr. Russell completed his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Loyola University and his Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from National Louis University.  Currently, he is a State Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching for his work in 2016 and is completing his doctorate in Supervision & Administration at DePaul University.

In his spare time, Mr. Russell listens to numerous podcasts, enjoys rooting for the Wisconsin Badgers, and eating at various Chicago hot spots.
