After School Electives

Blaine is proud to offer a variety of after school electives.  Each quarter, Blaine partners with area vendors to provide enrichment programs for students K-8.

BIT SPACE

In our Bytes class, students will start out with a crash course in computer basics.  From there, they will learn how to design virtual 3D worlds and create their own video games using Unity 3D game development platform.

Grade Level:  2-8

Dates:  Thursdays, April 20 – June 1  (7 total classes)

Time:  3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Cost:  $150 per student

JAZZ- Design Dance Elective

Learn the fundamentals of this classic dance form in a fun and encouraging environment. Jazz dancing promotes an appreciation for musicality and helps develop coordination and flexibility. This class concludes with a parent observation on the final week of class.

Dates:  April 17 – June 2 Tuesdays 3:15 to 4:15 

Grade Level:  Grades 2-4

TEN POUND CAKE COMPANY

After school cooking class providing basic cooking skills along with healthy eating tips empowering your child to make good food choices.  Held 3 pm to 4:30 pm

MISSION PROPELLE: GIRLS YOGA

Enrollment is open for Mission Propelle!

Register here to enroll your K – 5th grade daughter in a girl power packed session that will surely leave her excited to take on new challenges and make new friends! Mission Propelle utilizes yoga, original storybooks, and mentoring to empower girls to be confident in who they are and what they believe. Each week the girls discuss new topics which means each week your daughter can dive into new emotions, ideas and experiences.

BRICKS4KIDZ

Introduces kids to science, technology, engineering, architecture and math during each weeks lessons using LEGO bricks.

Dates: Mondays starting April 17th – May 22nd

CHESS WIZARDS

If brand new to chess they you will learn the basics and get you playing with others in not time. If you are a seasoned checkmate artisit, we will show you new ways to let your creativity loose on and of the chess board.

Classes start: Weds. 4/26/17 to 5/31/17

Price: 6 sessions for $90

ROBOTICS

Let your kids learn Hands-On Robotics programming and component design experience. STEM based learning methods on a 4th to 8th grade level focusing on group approach.  Inspiring the minds of the future with direct Robotics projects in class.  Learn about Lights, Motors, Computer programming on a easy to understand curriculum.  Kids who finish this class will have the ability to understand components and programming to use there own imagination to inspire creativity in our technology driven future. Basic and fundamental design approaches will create the maker mind while opening up endless posibilities with microprocessors and components. The goal of this class is to educate students on the future of technology through Hands-On group-based approaches and preparing them for the future.

Cost $350 includes a robot for class and to keep. Class meets Fridays.

3D PRINTING- INTRO

Students will receive hands-on experience  with 3D printing understand the concepts and hardware of the technology. How to search for parts in thingiverse and at the same time understand the community of Open Source. Choosing from projects that have been created by many individuals which can be used to create new designs. 3D scanning of physical objects which can help replicate parts. After taking this class students will understand how to 3D print, how to use the software that controls a 3D printer, how to find tons of free open-source designs to print, how to load media, how to repair the machine, with a full understanding of all components that make it work.
